You guys, I ended up crying before someone I’d met a few minutes before because the songs at church were just that good! What is happening to me 😂

Curious Conversations
I read about so many people and places that I’ve concluded that I enjoy meeting new people. Do I actually go out to meet these people? No. Turns out that electricity, food and wifi are great deterrents to any outside plans.
But this August was different! I met new people intending to talk to them not just see them :) It may sound like I don’t talk much but that’s a lie. In one month, I have asked so many questions that I now have a good grasp of the education system, religious landscape and colonial history in the Philippines.
Turns out that the geographical divide of religions in Nigeria is not unique to us but unlike Nigeria, it’s a largely Muslim south and Christian north. Very unlike Nigeria though, the Philippines was colonized twice (!) and that’s not counting the British and Japanese occupations. My highlight, however, is that I intuitively know what an “archipelago” means now.
Archipelago
noun
“an area that contains a chain or group of islands scattered in lakes, rivers, or the ocean.”
I also travelled to Denmark through a conversation and learnt how drastically different growing up as a Dane is. Much responsibility, and the freedom that comes with it, are given to you from a young age. I have also learnt to not mistake Hong Kong for China. They are not the same thing.
As a personal accomplishment, I now know where the Middle East is located on the world map. It spans West Asia and parts of North Africa! My assignment now is to study the map of Africa. Someone asked me whether Somalia was in West Africa and I said north. It’s in the east, guys.
After all these though, the insights I’ve gained are that:
i. we can learn so much from people by simply asking questions, and
ii. it’s more interesting to learn anything related to geography, people and culture by talking to people 😂!
pro tip: if you get tired of talking, always carry water with you :)

Loved reading this🤩. Talking to people is usually a more interesting way to learn about history and life in general. Thank you for sharing❤️.
Now I know what an archipelago is, I just need to know how it's pronounced😅
