Adventures in Learning
Despite my state this week in TMP #83, I want to express to the world, in this write-up, that I am grateful for the knowledge gained this year— personally and in professional interests. Especially professional interests. I know for sure that I’m not the same Dayo that started this year, in ways I see and in ways I don’t.
In July, I read The Almanack of Naval Ravikant, and boy has it straightened out some convictions, influenced my thoughts, and then, my actions. In that order. I believe firmly in the pursuit of knowledge, and now, I believe in the courageous pursuit of interests propelled by curiosity.
As a crude basis, this quote frequently comes to mind:
“The best jobs are neither decreed nor degreed. They are creative expressions of continuous learners in free markets.”
Creative expressions of continuous learners? You guys!
The phrase reads like a quiet promise. A quiet promise of pleasure in exploring layers of knowledge, the almost euphoric but surely satisfying experience of learning something new and growing in a field you simply enjoy. What if it’s a false promise? Today, my friend, is neither the day to speak about courage nor permanent uncertainties.
Notwithstanding the luxuries that enable a man to do work he loves, I have loved learning this year. And I am grateful for the people and conditions that have spurred and continue to spur the adventure.
So far, 2023 has been many things that I constantly have to refine the narrative I tell myself for sanity’s sake, but one thing has been indisputable: 2023 has been an adventure in learning. That’s one half of the description of my NYSC period and I love it. I love it for me.
As for the personal half, my 2023 review will see to that because darling (😂).
Happy new month and have an amazing year ahead,
Dayo 🍻

I am very much invested in clean energy technologies and due to the nascent nature of the industry, I’ve developed a secondary interest in the discipline of building (clean energy manufacturing) companies. So, here’s something I enjoyed watching:

I’m currently taking measures to understand the electric drivetrain, and you guys, Lucid Motors are drop-dead beautiful.
ps: this entire post is a truer representation of what circulates my mind most days lmao. if you didn’t know, I was/am an engineering student.
Who could have known Dayo had such a great taste in automobiles 😄.
It’s lovely to know that NYSC could be beneficial. You saying that you were able to gain knowledge from it just assures me a little bit, that it’s not totally negative.
